Our Pet Urine Cleaning Process

We all love our pets, including us here at Like New Carpet Care. But sometimes pets can destroy our carpets. Our pet odor removal process is extremely effective.  They show their affection every single day through thick and then no matter what. But one thing for sure is they can make it a real challenge to keep your home clean healthy and free of  that annoying pet odor from accidents.

Once a pet urine accident has occurred it can be a difficult situation to deal with, but it’s also hard to determine where these accidents occurred, some that you never knew existed. At Like New Carpet Care we use the newest and most up to date UV Light to detect those pet urine accidents throughout your home and eliminate the pet urine odors from your carpets and sub flooring by using our Sub Surface Cleaning Treatment.

HOW IT WORKS

One of our IICRC Certified Technicians will inspect all areas of carpet in your home using a top of the line UV light(pet urine exhibits a fluorescent glow under UV light), to pinpoint exact location of urine stains and mark all contaminated areas for treatment. Once completed, we prepare a non-allergenic product specifically designed for pet urine removal.

We then completely saturate the affected areas, which allows the hot liquid solution to flow through the carpet fibers while also attacking deep into the carpet’s backing, padding, and subfloor, penetrating the entire odor source. The solution rehydrates, emulsifies, and breaks down pet urine solids in preparation for extraction and fresh-water rinsing.

Our technicians then use the Flash Xtractor II Water Claw, a specialty tool designed to flush out the solution and animal waste from your carpets to a holding tank outside in our van mounted system. Our method provides a 95+ percent success rate.

DIY Pet Vomit Clean Up

In what may seem like a bit of a gross topic, we are going to give you some tips as to what to do when your pet has a vomit accident on your carpet. Now, the best course of action is to have one of our Professional Carpet Technicians come apply their methods for dog urine removal. But, in the meantime we will provide some tips for lighter cleaning or to keep it as clean as possible until we can get there to service your home.

Step one would be to scoop as much of the mess up. Yes, I know it may be a bit gross, but it needs to be done. Once you scooped up the larger chunks and a majority of the liquid, you will want to dap as much of the leftover fluid up as possible. Just like any other spill or stain, you want to dap the fluid up as opposed to wiping it. That will typically cause more damage. You will want to apply some cold water to the stain as you dap it up.

If you want to try finishing it off on your own there is a good, homemade solution you can make and use. Try mixing water, vinegar and detergent in a bowl. Lightly apply the mixture to the problem area and dab it with a dry cloth. As an extreme measure, you can try applying Rubbing Alcohol to the area with a dry rag next.

If you give it a try and you can’t achieve the desired result, feel free to let our Professionally Trained Carpet Technicians give it a try!

A Few Reasons To Have Your Carpets Professionally Cleaned

Prevents buildup of allergens and bacteria. Moist soiling of carpets can result in the buildup of several unhealthy contaminants.

Enhances the appearance of any room. Clean, well-maintained carpets speak volumes about the overall cleanliness of a home or facility.

Improves worker morale. Workers feel better about their work environment when it is clean. This includes the carpeting.

Makes carpeting look and feel clean and fresh.3. Makes carpets easier to maintain. Most carpet soiling is made up of dry soils; when carpets are kept thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis, most dry soils can be removed with regular vacuuming.

Removes spots and stains. As with other soils, spots and stains can attract more soiling. Removing them promptly protects carpeting from damage.

Prolongs the life of carpeting. Regular carpet cleaning using the extraction method can increase the life of carpets significantly, protecting your floor-covering investment.

Protects indoor air quality. Carpets trap airborne pollutants; however, eventually those pollutants must be removed in order to protect the carpet and maintain indoor air quality.

Removes dust mites and bedbugs that may have found a home in carpets.

Maintains the carpet’s warranty. Most carpet warranties require that carpets be cleaned using the extraction method within a specific amount of time, usually every 12 to 18 month

The City Beautiful

Well before European settlers arrived in 1536, Orlando was sparsely populated by the Creek and other Native American tribes. There are very few archaeological sites in the area today, except for the ruins of Fort Gatlin along the shores of modern-day Lake Gatlin just south of downtown Orlando. Orlando was originally known as Jernigan. Jernigan was a cattleman who had acquired land along Lake Holden and was the area’s first permanent settler in the area. Jernigan then became Orlando in 1857. There are a few conflicting stories as to how the city got its name. One of which (the most accepted) is that Orlando was named after a soldier named Orlando Reeves, who supposedly died during an attack by Native Americans in the area during the Second Seminole War. That story has been debated, but stands as the official city story.  Orlando is an amazing place that goes by the name “The City Beautiful”. It is home to our historic downtown Church Street area, The Orlando Magic, Lake Eola, The Orlando City Lions and The Dr Phillips Performing Arts Center. Our Orlando carpet cleaning professionals take pride in keeping local Orlando carpets nice and clean and we would love to show you how well we perform.

Truck Mounted Cleaning Units

Truck mount carpet cleaning is a water based vacuum extraction cleaning process that is much more powerful and typically yields much more effective results than solvent based methods.  There are two main types of truck mounted units, Slide In Truck Mounts and Van Powered Truck Mounts.

Slide in truck mount systems can be used in a variety of vehicles. It can also be easily transferred from one vehicle to another. These systems also consume lower amounts of gas. However, slide in truck mounts take up a lot of space in the vehicle. They are also generally more complex to operate and have higher maintenance requirements.

Van-powered systems are much more compact, so they take up less interior space of the vehicle. They also typically require less maintenance. Unlike slide in systems, van powered units are limited in vehicle options. They also consume a lot more gas.

Despite their differences, both truck mount versions are able to clean carpets faster and much more effectively than portable machines. Since they don’t have to be emptied often like portable extractors, they are much more convenient. Truck mounted units remove soil, pollen and other contaminants from carpets easier than portables because suction is stronger and the water gets heated to a higher temperature.

Polyester

Polyester is a very strong, synthetic material that is used for a variety of uses. The use that is most common for us is carpet, rugs or upholstery. A majority of furniture, rugs or carpet are made of polyester due to its great durability. Polyester fabrics and fibers are extremely strong, which give them long life looking good. Polyester is very durable. It is resistant to most chemicals, stretching and shrinking, wrinkle resistant, mildew and resistant to abrasion. Polyester is hydrophobic in nature and quick drying, which makes it perfect for steam cleaning. Polyester retains its shape and hence is good for making outdoor clothing for harsh climates, unrelated to our services but quite informative. It is easily washed and dried, using proper techniques. Our Carpet Cleaning Orlando technicians are very experienced, trained and certified in cleaning polyester and they have been performing these cleanings for years. Give us a call and we would love to clean your polyester products.

Rug Cleaning Is Our Thing Too

One of our many services that we provide to our customers is Rug Cleaning. We clean multiple types of rugs using a variety of methods. From your standard synthetic house rug to high end natural fiber rugs. When dealing with standard synthetic rugs (the most common type), we can typically clean them in the customer’s home in short time. If there is a surface that is adequate to clean the rug upon, we basically clean it as if it were a room of carpet. The synthetic fibers are made to withstand the conditions incorporated with a steam cleaning, so it is completely safe and yields great results.

When we are dealing with natural fiber rugs (often called “oriental”), there is a completely different cleaning process that is required. Natural fiber rugs are not made to withstand the processes included in a steam cleaning. The fibers in the rug will be worn down significantly, which will result in a rugs early deterioration. The steam can cause bleeding or shrinking in the rug. Following the proper steps when cleaning a natural fiber rug will help to eliminate the possibility of those unfortunate side effects occurring. Our process involves picking up the rug and bringing it back to our facility where it undergoes a full submersion, specialty cleaning. Using the proper products and methods ensures us that we will be able to achieve the best, safest cleaning possible. Once the cleaning has been entirely completed, we will deliver the rug back to you. There’s nothing like rolling out that freshly cleaned rug in a customer’s home. Give us a try and you’ll never go back!

How Often Should I Steam Clean My Carpet?

Steam cleaning separates a water based method of cleaning carpets from dry chemical compound method used by some professional companies. It’s not the steam that cleans the carpet, it’s the detergents applied with the machine which the steam activates. This is true when you rent a machine, or when you hire a professional steam cleaner to do it for you. Even dry cleaning companies use a small amount of water! Steam cleaning, or carpet shampooing does not have the toxic risks associated with dry chemical carpet cleaning. However, since water is involved, it does take longer before your carpets are ready to be walked on. For most people the wait is worth the worries saved. Dry time typically takes between 4 to 8 hours.  At a minimum, you need to steam clean your carpeting once a year. Most manufacturers recommend steam cleaning your carpets every 6 to 12 months. Some of them even require it to maintain your warranty. If you have pets, suffer from allergies, or wear shoes indoors you might want to steam clean your carpet more often. Steam cleaning also offers the benefit of helping to decontaminate your carpets.  When you’re ready for your professional steam cleaning, call us and we will have one of our experienced technicians to come to your home and provide one of our great services!

Nylon And Your Carpet

Nylon is a name or designation for a type of synthetic polymers first created in 1935 by the DuPont Company. Nylon is the most durable and the most resilient of all carpet fibers. A resilient fiber is defined as having the ability to return to its original form or position after being stretched, compressed or bent. Nylon is the most resilient fiber used to make carpet. This is what allows nylon carpet to keep its like new look longer than any other fiber. Nylon is one of the more expensive fibers second only to wool, which is a natural fiber. I would consider choosing a Nylon carpet if you have a lot of traffic and longevity was my biggest concern. Nylon carpet is the most commonly used carpet, due to it’s ability to withstand constant use.

From my experience, I have found that the softer nylon fibers are not quite as resilient as the standard denier nylon fiber. The higher the denier, the heavier the filament, which is a good thing for durability. The way they make a standard nylon fiber softer is to make the strand thinner. This process results in losing some or the fibers resiliency. The thinner strand creates a carpet that is softer to the touch but will be more susceptible to crushing and matting. While soft nylon may feel a bit more elegant, standard nylon will look much better for much longer.  Our Carpet Cleaning technicians have extensive experience in dealing with nylon carpet. Give us a try when it comes to your next carpet cleaning and you will love the results!
