What Is Your Carpet Made Of?

When it comes to the carpet floor covering in your home, there are a variety of materials that can be used during the crafting process. Luckily, our Carpet Cleaning professionals know a little bit about these materials. In home carpeting can be made of synthetic or natural fibers. Natural fibers are quite a bit more of a rarity in homes. Carpet made of natural fibers is much more delicate than carpet made of more durable synthetic materials. Natural fiber in home carpet is typically made of wool. Wool can crack, break or shrink if exposed to improper care methods, which typically gives wool a much shorter lifespan than most synthetic materials. In home carpeting can also be made of silk, which is another natural fiber. While it is even more rare than wool, it is a similar circumstance. Silk is a natural fiber that is susceptible to the same wear and tear issues that could negatively affect wool. Synthetic materials are much more commonly used for in home carpeting due to their durability, ease of maintenance and lower costs. The most commonly used synthetic materials for in home carpeting are polyester, polypropylene and nylon. These synthetic fibers are man made and crafted specifically to be durable and cost effective. Since the 20th century, in home carpet manufacturers have mainly been using a variety of these synthetic materials to craft in home carpeting and there are no signs of change on the horizon.

The earliest known origins of people crafting carpeting (typically in the form of what we now know to be area rugs) for use as floor coverings and various other purposes dates back to the 7th century BCE. This has been determined due to evidence of goat and sheep shearing being found in the West Asia area, along with remnants of early rug/carpet craftings. Based on historical evidence, it seems as though the Armenians were the originators of this carpet/rug crafting practice. This has been determined due to the age of the natural fibers found in the carpet, where the carpet was found and the technique used to craft the carpet included the Armenian Double Knot as well as red filamental coloring made from Armenian cochineal. The oldest carpet discovered is called The Pazyryk Carpet. This carpet was unearthed in what seems to be remarkably well condition. The Pazyryk Carpet is dated to be from the 4th – 5th century BCE. Expert historians who have studied this region, it’s people and their practices feel with conviction, that this ancient carpet was used as a funeral accessory. While various colored fibers and what seem to be shreddings of ancient carpets and rugs were found back as far as the 7th century BCE, it is believed that he inhabitants of the Caucasus were weaving amazingly beautiful and colorful rugs for many centuries after.

We previously mentioned that there are a variety of materials that your in home carpet could be made of. Manufacturers use different natural materials and synthetic materials to create in home carpeting to fit the individual needs of consumers. Natural fibered carpet is much less common in homes than synthetic fiber carpet. While the most commonly used natural fiber, Wool, is more durable than you would think, it is not able to withstand as much wear, tear and vigorous cleaning methods as synthetic fibers. Durability and cost make synthetics the preferred option for crafting in home carpet. Here are some of these commonly used carpet fibers and a little bit about each one.

Wool

For a natural fiber, Wool has pretty good durability. It can be dyed, it is fairly abundant and it is easily accessible. Wool is a textile that is typically obtained from Sheep. Wool can be harvested from other animals such as goats, rabbits or oxen, but those varieties will typically be attached to a different name. Fleece or Cashmere could be used to describe the wool harvested from these other animals. Wool is sheared and processed prior to being used for carpet or rug crafting. Wool will often be blended with a synthetic material to make carpeting. This is to help keep prices low, as wool is much more expensive than synthetic materials.

Nylon

Nylon has been the most commonly used synthetic material for crafting carpeting since the 1900’s. Nylon is very durable and can be printed, or created quite easily. It can be dyed, typically during production. Dye is usually added when the Nylon is in its molten state and dried to match the color it is meant to be. Nylon has excellent durability and is widely used in commercial and industrial settings, where carpet is needed. It can hold up well against normal, daily wear and tear, as well as vigorous, heavy duty cleaning processes.

Polypropylene

The main benefit of Polypropylene is its low cost to produce and purchase. This material is most commonly used to construct berber carpets. Polypropylene is often referred to as Olefin. These fibers are made a bit larger than the rest and area looped to create the berber carpet that is best suited for light use. Berber carpet made of Polypropylene, or Olefin, is mostly used in domestic or residential settings as it tends to mat down quickly and does not wear as well as its other synthetic counterparts. There are specialty Polypropylene carpets that can be made to be more durable, but these are basically commercial grade cuts that have very small loops and does not provide much comfort. This type of carpeting is meant only to handle heavy foot traffic and should not be used where appearance and comfort are important. These fibers are difficult to dye as well, which actually helps with stain resistance.

Polyester

The technical name for Polyester is Polyethylene Terephthalate. Polyester begun to grow extensively in popularity in the early 2000’s, due to the rising costs of most raw materials used to make carpeting. Polyester is typically created at low costs, so it is naturally used in cheaper carpeting. Polyester is hydrophobic, which means it repels water. This makes is quite stain resistant. Similar to Polypropylene and unlike Nylon, the coloring of Polyester takes place when it is in a molten state. This is referred to as solution dyeing. The main disadvantage of Polyester is that it tends to mat or crush easily. Meaning that is it were to be used in a high traffic area or  if heavy furniture were to be placed on it for an extended period of time, you could be left with many flattened portions of the carpet that may never fully stand back up. This type of carpeting is best used in low traffic areas.

In home carpeting has evolved from ceremonial garb, to floor covering rugs, to the standard carpet we see in homes across the planet today. This textile floor covering has become such a common fixture in our lives, that most would not ever realize the historical context of what carpet is and where it came from. Hopefully some of the information in this post is helpful to you. Maybe the next time you kick off your shoes and feel the comfort of that soft, clean carpet on your bare feet, you’ll look down and think about the generations before you who laid the groundwork that made this fine floor covering a standard inclusion in most homes and businesses around the world.

Grout Sealing

If you have been to any of our service pages you may have seen topics covering carpet, upholstery, area rug and tile and grout sealing services. We are able to successfully provide this wide range of services with great results thanks to our methods, equipment and solutions. We use the highest grade truck mounted units, which are permanently mounted to each of our service vehicles. These machines perform at a very high level, which is what is needed to complete a deep and thorough cleaning of your carpet, upholstery, area rugs or tile and grout. Highly heated and pressurized water flows out of the truck mounted unit, through a pressure hose and out of the jets located at the base of the specialized cleaning tool. This vigorous hot water extraction cleaning process is the preferred method for just about any surface. When an in home cleaning service is needed for your synthetic floor coverings (carpet, area rugs, ceramic or porcelain tile and grout) or synthetic upholstery, make sure the company you choose to complete these services uses truck mounted units. Proper equipment is of the utmost importance when it comes to completing any professional service

Another important factor in providing a successful service experience is the use of safe and proper solutions. Thats why all of our cleaning solutions and grout sealing solutions have no VOC’s or butyl. We have a variety of solutions that are used for each individual cleaning service procedure. For example, one of our more popular services that may not seem to be as generally recognized as others would be cleaning and sealing grout. We are a premier provider of grout cleaning Orlando all throughout the Central Florida area. We have a specific solution that we use on all standard ceramic and porcelain tile which works more effectively than any other tile and grout cleaners that we have researched and tested. Using the proper solution makes all the difference when completing a particular service. We also use a fantastic grout sealer solution that is applied to grout after it has been cleaned. Our choice for ceramic tile and grout sealer is yet another time tested solution. We do perform annual research and testing of new tools and solutions to ensure that we are using the best products available. When our solutions continue to be the favorite of our company, technicians and customers, we are happy to stick with what works best!

Now that we have discussed in length some of the important portions of what it takes to complete these services in a high quality manner, we can discuss some grout sealing specifics. As mentioned before, tile and grout cleaning and sealing is one of our more common services. Our abrasive hot water extraction cleaning method provides some amazing results when performed properly by our trained technicians and using proper solutions. If you stay up to date with the maintenance of keeping your tile and grout cleaned, the final results of the cleaning may not be as extreme as some more heavily soiled tile and grout that is not cleaned regularly. There are often services in which the grout itself looks to be a different color simply because it is so incredibly dirty. These cases will show massive differences once the cleaning has been completed. Now that your tile and grout is clean and refreshed looking, it is a great idea to have our special grout sealer applied to the grout. This protective coating is carefully applied, by hand, to the entirety of the grout lines that have been cleaned. Once applied and dried, this protective coating will create an invisible barrier between the grout lines and any contaminants that could cause discoloration. Grout is very porous, which means it easily absorbs any liquid. The grout sealant is an excellent addition to your cleaning service that will help to extend the life and look of your grout beyond standard expectations. When it is time for cleaning and sealing grout Orlando, FL, you have found the right company!

Tile Cleaning

Of the many services we provide, tile cleaning is one of our most commonly scheduled services. Using the highest quality Truck Mounted Units provides us with the proper equipment to perform a deep Hot Water Extraction cleaning of your tile. These machines use highly pressurized, hot water to reach deep down into each and every nook and cranny on the surface of the tiles. Being able to force the water down into every crevice allows for a much deeper cleaning that anything a broom or mop can do. While regularly cleaning your tile floors with a broom and mop is recommended to prevent heavy buildup, a deeper clean will be required from time to time. A broom and mop will only keep the surface of your tiles looking clean, but the slow buildup of dirt and grime in the tiny pits across the surface of each tile will begin to add up and soon be visible enough to notice. That’s where a deep Hot Water Extraction cleaning service comes in!

Our tile cleaning Orlando process is a heavy duty, abrasive procedure that is only meant for stronger, more durable types of tiles. This particular type of cleaning process is perfect for Ceramic tile cleaning and Porcelain tile cleaning. These types of tiles are strong and durable enough to withstand our heavy duty Hot Water Extraction cleaning process. This process is strong enough that it is only recommended on non natural materials. Most natural stones are too soft to withstand this abrasive cleaning process. Natural stones like Granite, Marble, Slate, Travertine or Saltillo can actually become damaged by an extraction type of cleaning. Etching, chipping or scarring can happen and be seen easily in these particularly soft stones. Make sure you notify any cleaning company as to the type of tile that is to be cleaned prior to any cleaning service, so the appropriate steps can be taken.

Upon the technician’s arrival to your home, the first thing he will do after the greeting is complete a pre inspection walk through. We complete this initial step no matter if it is carpet or a hard surface floor cleaning service.  This walkthrough will give our technician the opportunity to inspect all surfaces that are to be cleaned. Our technicians are always as friendly and helpful as possible, which makes the pre inspection walk through a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have or point out any areas of concern. Our tile and grout cleaning charges are based on the total square footage of the area to be cleaned. Once the pre inspection walk through has been completed, the technician will carefully and accurately measure out the area of tile to be cleaned. Immovable objects and stationary furniture will absolutely be taken into account to ensure your are being charged fairly. Once the total square footage and total cost have been addressed and approved, the technician will begin the cleaning process.

The actual grout cleaning process begins with the careful application of our tile and grout specific prespray. We use an alkaline tile & grout cleaner that is safe for all hard surface stone. We have been using this specific cleaner for many years with great success! Our cleaning solution prespray is safe to use on acid sensitive surfaces, which makes it our unquestioned go to for any type of tile cleaning project we tackle. This solution safely emulsifies and breaks up stains and soils on all types of tiles. This hard surface floor cleaning solution is so effective it can be used for complete restoration or daily maintenance. Once the tile and grout pre spray solution has been evenly applied, it is left to dwell for about 10 to 15 minutes. During the solution dwell time the technician will take this opportunity to use a special coarse brush to agitate any overly soiled areas. This extra step of agitating heavily soiled areas helps to loosen up excess dirt and grime so the Hot Water Extraction cleaning process can be as deep and effective as possible.  Then next step is to begin that actual Hot Water Extraction tile cleaning process. This process uses our Truck Mounted Units to provide a vigorous, in depth cleaning of the tile and grout that has been thoroughly prepared. We may have mentioned that our cleaning is a Hot Water Extraction method using Truck Mounted Units a few times, but it is important for us to do so. It is the proven method for a thorough and safe cleaning of your tile and grout and we want to emphasize the importance of getting the proper service that you deserve! This process does involve water, so our tile and grout cleaners take the necessary steps to ensure no other floor coverings are damaged and excess water is wiped up as the cleaning process is executed. Your tiles will begin to look clean instantaneously and will be dry in no time!

When you are looking for tile cleaning Orlando Fl services, just as with any other service, we implore you to do a little research before choosing a company. That is the purpose of our pages on our website, to help inform each and every curious customer as to what proper methods and procedures are the safest and most effective. We hope this page has been helpful in advising you of the proper route to take when having your tile and grout cleaning done. Myths About Professional Carpet Cleaning

Carpet Cleaning Myths

There has always been that family member that is older than us, with a crazy ideology about something they have no idea about. It was usually our wonderful mothers or grandmothers.  After all, wasn’t all of our mothers the greatest carpet cleaners? Didn’t they always have an idea that at some point when we got older said to ourselves “I knew she was wrong about that” Unfortunately, some of those old tricks they thought where great ideas are just myths. You might have been misinformed and misguided about taking care of your carpet investment. It’s time to put those myths to rest and understand the facts about what actually happens when we get our carpet professionally cleaned.

Here are some false facts or myths about steam cleaning your carpet

Myth #1: “Professional Carpet Cleaning Will Shrink My Carpet.”

This is very very hard to do. You would need to over wet your carpet so badly, that not only would it shrink but the overwhelming mold/mildew smell would be the major concern. Our professional carpet cleaners will not allow this to happen because we use many tactics to help with speed drying. If your go-to carpet cleaner doesn’t use truck mounted units and air movers to speed up drying, then they should not be allowed in your home. This is a standard practice by professionals and should be taken seriously.

Myth #2: “It Should Be Years Before Having My New Carpet Cleaned.”

Quality made carpets these days will hide more dirt and stains than others. Though this doesn’t mean there aren’t soils or staining in your carpet.  Also, soil is abrasive, this means your carpet may wear out early, lose fiber protection, and even lose some color. If you think waiting 2-3 years before having your carpets professionally cleaned is a good idea, you have been mislead. Waiting years will do nothing but create possible health hazards, such as respiratory issues, allergies, and skin irritation and infection.

Myth #3: “My Carpet Has No Stains, It Doesn’t Need To Be Cleaned”

As we have mentioned, soils are abrasive and residue that builds up in your carpet are not always noticeable. It’s smart to have your carpet cleaned at least once in a year by a professional—especially if you have small children and pets in the house. The IICRC, a renowned organization in the carpet cleaning industry, recommends cleaning carpet every 6-12 months and most manufactures will void warranties if they are not done in this time frame.

Myth #4: “I Have A Caret Cleaning Wet Vacuum.”

This is great for regular maintenance of your homes carpet in between professional carpet cleanings. If you want to remove small stains or maintain high traffic areas.Though many machines on the market don’t have the suction power like most machines professionals use. Home machines can then loosen the stains, but the residue will still be there. Leaving behind cleaning solution residue, will in turn get the carpet dirtier faster.

Myth #5: “Why would I Choose Your Company, When This Other Guy Is Only $6.95 A Room”

Do not hire a carpet cleaner simply because their services are the cheapest. If its to good to be true, it ALWAYS is. $6.95 a room is just another word for bait-n-switch. Which means they tell you a low price to get in your home and the jack up the bottom line on you. And 99% of the time they will be using portable/inferior equipment to a professional that charges a reasonable rate. These cleaners will only leave your carpet worse than they started, so don’t settle for anything just because their price is the lowest. Educate yourself on the company you are choosing. They should have a good online presence with a plethora of reviews on many platforms. Ask plenty of questions about the companies services and what kind of tools and employees they have.

We hope you might possibly learn a few new things about our home town while enjoying this informative read!

Orlando was not always known as the city of Orlando, it was first called Jernigan. Orlando became an officially incorporated city 1855. But before that the name Jernigan was our name and came from early settlers to the area named Isaac and Aaron Jernigan. They were two cattle farmers who had purchased land a few miles Northwest of Fort Gatlin. And prior to Jernigan, the area was known as Fort Gatlin. Fort Gatlin was established in 1838 and was used by the 4th U.S. Artillery during the Second Seminole War. The surrounding area was then settled and built up by newly arriving permanent settlements following the leads of Isaac and Aaron Jernigan.

Unfortunately Jernigan has some frowned upon practices so the local area renamed from Jernigan to Orlando. As of 1857 and to this day, Orlando is the name by which this land is referred to. One story of how the name Orlando came to be is centered around a man by the name of Orlando who was killed in the area during the Second Seminole War in 1835. The story told is that there was a well known marker on a grave that read “Here Lies Orlando” in a well known area. There were many variations of who may actually be in the grave, could have been an ox herder who was simply passing through the area, or possibly a plantation owner who attempted peace talks between the Military and the Seminoles simply because the treaty did not reimburse him for crops and slaves lost during the war.

Back in 1975 there was an article in the Orlando Sentinel by a Judge named Donald A. Cheney that had a bit of a different account of what transpired and how the city actually got its name. Cheney’s story became the more accepted idea being that he was a local historian and Chairman of the County Historical Commission. He heard this sotry from his father a judge named John Moses Cheney who came to Orlando in 1885 and came to be well known in the city. He told a story of a man named James Speer, who used some of the other folklore stories of men named Orlando to convince the change, all while actually referring to the Shakespeare character.

City of Kissimmee

One of the many areas our company services is the city of Kissimmee. Since we are a Kissimmee carpet cleaning company that provides an in home service for our customers, we are constantly meeting a variety of our fellow citizens. Along with meeting new people, we also learn quite a bit about the areas that we service. Some areas are a bit more modern, while some areas are a bit more historic. Kissimmee seems to lean a bit more on the historic side of the fence, which is fantastic! History is what makes us what we are and when we can visit an area that has quite a bit of it on display it is always a treat!

Let’s start with the basics. Kissimmee was officially incorporated as a city in 1883. The city is located in Osceola County, Florida. The boundaries of the city extend to cover just over 17 acres of total area, with just under 1 square mile of that area being water. The population was 59,682 as of the 2010 Census, with the current population estimated to be around 80 thousand. This area seems to be quite diverse and flush with citizens from many cultures. Florida is home to a great hispanic population throughout the state and Kissimmee is no different, which adds to it’s diverse charm.

Prior to becoming incorporated, this area was known as Allendale. That name came from a Confederate Major named J.H. Allen. Allen seemed to be most known for operating the first cargo hauling steamboat down the Kissimmee River. Kissimmee’s namesake is debated among some, but is mostly accepted as having Native American origins. Prior to the boom of the railroad industry, Kissimmee flourished in the steamboat industry. The local shipyard built most of the large steamboats that were used for transporting people and goods over various distances. This industry thrived in the area until the use of locomotives became prevalent enough to overtake the need for steamboat transportation. These days, you can still a steam boat strolling down the river as more of a tip of the hat to what helped develop the area.

Kissimmee is home to many unique sites of interest that make life in the area interesting. One well known attraction of the area is Old Town Amusement Park. Old Town is both an amusement park, as well as a large outdoor shopping area. It has been operating and pleasing guests since 1986. Old town was originally meant as an entertainment facility that would provide visitors with quite a unique shopping experience. In the early 2000’s the park began adding rides to attract more visitors and create a more exciting experience. Old Town is well known in the area as a great place to meet, eat, explore and enjoy the sights and sounds of shows, bands and classic car shows. Another interesting attraction in the area that may seem a bit obscure to out of town visitors, but right at home to the locals is the Monument of States. The Monument of States was meant as a symbol of unity for Americans after the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941. It is a unique, eye catching monument built by volunteers using donated items from all over the planet. The concept was created by Charles W. Bressler-Pettis as an interesting attraction that holds great meaning. Kissimmee is also home to what is known as “The World’s Largest Orange”, better known as Orange World. Orange world is located right off of U.S. Route 192 and definitely looks like a roadside attraction. It is locally known for capitalizing on some of the recognized local souvenirs, as well as selling anything and everything involving oranges. Orange World fits perfectly right in to the state of Florida.

For example, a commonly used phrase when searching for a carpet cleaning company in your area would be “Carpet Cleaning Near Me.” Most companies spend an abundance of time figuring out how to become easily visible to consumers when words or phrases like this are searched. Online presence has such a big impact on a company, it can be the determining factor in a company’s success or failure.

As a consumer, the main concern while searching is typically whether or not you are choosing the right company for you. There are a lot of factors that can come into play while trying to make that important determination. Whether you are looking for the cheapest service available, the highest quality service available, or a good mix of quality and affordability, there are certain things you can look for during your search. The first (and one of the best) pieces of advice that comes to mind is to perform multiple searches. When you hop onto your regularly used online search engine, don’t be afraid to be specific in your search. Start by typing in exactly what you are looking for and take note as to what pages show up in that search. Next, adjust your search term a few times and look for some consistent results. When you begin to notice a couple companies that continue to show up in your search results that may help to lead you in the right direction. High ranking sites are typically honest, high traffic sites which often will show the companies that are visited often.

Another search method that may seem a bit obvious, is review based searching. While using multiple search phrases to weed out the companies that do not fit what you are looking for is quite helpful, review based searching could be the best search route to take. Review based searching is exactly what it sounds like, searching for the most highly reviewed companies. These days, online reviews have taken charge as the preferred method of choice. Admittedly, I search for everything using review ratings first. A company that has a solid, credible online presence along with a great review record is usually the proverbial “home run”. If the company in question has little to no reviews online, it could be a sign of a poorly received company or simply a relatively young company. A simply way to tell the difference is to search for the established date for the company. Any company that has an enormous abundance of positive online reviews is one that should be taken seriously when making your decision. Typically, these highly rated reviews that support these companies will directly reflect the type of service you will receive.

Our company has been lucky enough to have so many wonderful customers who have chosen to share their positive experiences online, by way of reviews. Those positive reviews have led many new customers to choose our company for their Carpet, Tile & Grout, Upholstery or Rug Cleaning services. We do spend a lot of time working on improving our online presence, but nothing can replace organic, positive reviews left by our many satisfied customers. We take pride in providing a fantastic customer experience and our customers seem to continue to be satisfied enough to share their positive experiences online! We can attest that when performing an online search, reviews make a great compass!

We Sure Do Love Orlando!

Our company, Like New Carpet Care is very proud to call Orlando our home! Not only is Orlando home to our carpet cleaning Orlando company, it is also home to our employees and their families. Most of us have been raised in this beautiful city and are happy to raise our own families here. Since we do love this city so, we have decided to post a blog all about Orlando! We hope you might possibly learn a few new things about our home town while enjoying this informative read!

Orlando became an officially incorporated city 1855. Prior to becoming the city of Orlando that we are so used to today, this area was known as Jernigan. The name Jernigan comes from early settlers to the area named Isaac and Aaron Jernigan. Isaac and Aaron were to cattle farmers who had purchased the land on the west bank of Lake Holden, a few miles Northwest of Fort Gatlin. Prior to becoming known as Jernigan, the area was known as Fort Gatlin. Fort Gatlin was established in 1838 and was used by the 4th U.S. Artillery during the Second Seminole War. Fort Gatlin was named after Dr. John S. Gatlin, who was an Army physician killed during the Dade Massacre. The Dade Massacre was a U.S. Army defeat during the Second Seminole War. Fort Gatlin was abandoned by the Army only a single year after being established. The surrounding area was then settled and built up by newly arriving permanent settlements following the leads of Isaac and Aaron Jernigan.

Due to some questionable acts committed by Aaron Jernigan and a local militia he led, the local area was to be renamed from Jernigan to Orlando. As of 1857 to this day, Orlando is the name by which this land is referred to. There are a handful of stories as to how the name Orlando came to be. One of the more common stories of how the name Orlando came to be is centered around a man by the name of Orlando who was killed in the area during the Second Seminole War in 1835. The old story says that there was a well known marker on a grave that read “Here Lies Orlando” in a prominent area. There were many variations of who exactly the person in the grave named Orlando was. From an ox herder who was simply passing through the area, to a sentinel who helped the military and died as a hero, to a plantation owner who attempted to thwart peace talks between the U.S. Military and the Seminoles simply because the treaty did not reimburse him for crops and slaves lost during the war. It is said that at a local meeting it was decided that since the area was known as “Orlando’s Grave”, the logical thing to do was drop the word “Grave” and officially rename the area “Orlando”.

In 1975 there was an article written in the Orlando Sentinel by Judge Donald A. Cheney that had a bit of a different account of exactly how the name came to be. Cheney’s version of the story is a more accepted idea being that he was a local historian and Chairman of the County Historical Commission. The story was told to him by his father, Judge John Moses Cheney who arrived in Orlando in 1885 and went on the be a major figure in the area. The elder Cheney tells the story that a man named James Speer, described as “a gentleman of culture, who loved William Shakespeare”. Speer proposed the name based on a character from Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”. It is thought that James Speer used some of the other folklore stories of men named Orlando to convince the change, all while actually referring to the Shakespeare character. A little fuel to the fire could be the fact that one of the major roads in Orlando is named Rosalind, which is the name of the heroine in “As You Like It”. Speer’s take on the naming of Orlando seems to be the most accredited and accepted account. Regardless of how the name Orlando came to be, we love this beautiful city and are grateful to be a part of it!
