We have a state-of-the-art process for eliminating pet urine and odor from your carpets. Our pet stain and urine odor removal specialist have in-depth comprehensive training. Our process, which not only helps with odor but also helps rectify the stain that is normally left behind.
We saturate the area with our special urine odor removal treatment. It is vitally important that you attack not only the carpet but the underlying padding where the majority of the urine will persist. Your average carpet cleaning service will not rectify pet odor as the urine salts are usually deep down in the fibers and in the padding below. So this is why we use a flooding method to attack the padding, this destroys the odor-causing urine salts.
The cleaning solution will need to dwell for a minimum of 30 min and in some severe cases up to an hour. The dwell time is just as important as the cleaning itself as the molecules need time to do their job. After the solution has dwelled we then use our special subfloor extraction tool to remove all the cleaning solution out of the padding and carpet. We will then make sure the area is odor and stain-free. Then it’s time for our normal deep clean carpet cleaning process.

Like New Carpet Care was very quick to respond and schedule–very pleasant on the phone. Chris, the technician, was awesome! Moved everything I asked to be moved, suggested an additional product that was really needed, and did the whole job quickly and competently! Very professional! I will definitely be using Like New again and asking for Chris. My carpets and furniture look and smell great — not an easy task with three dogs!

Very pleased with the carpet cleaning service that Chris provided. He was actually available before our appointed time and called to let me know he could come earlier. Most importantly, the cleaning job removed all signs of the pet stains and traffic dirt that were there. The icing on the cake was this technician’s attitude…very pleasant, helpful and respectful….Thank you!

Pet urine can cause permanent damage to your carpet and upholstery. It can also create an unhealthy indoor air environment, along with unwanted odors.
When urine is first deposited onto carpet or upholstery, it has a pH level of approximately 5 or 6, which is on the acid side of the pH scale. Pet urine is much easier to remove right then when it is fresh before it is able to dry completely. Once it dries it turns “alkaline” or to a high pH between 10 to12 on the scale and becomes more difficult to remove.
The warm acid state of the urine offers a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, which will begin to flourish almost immediately. In this original acid state, the urine begins to oxidize and react with the carpet, this is when color change can occur, whether that be yellow or any color. When this happens the color change can become permanent if the urine is not removed immediately. Some of this color change can be attributed to the strong ammonia that forms as the urine passes through bacterial and chemical change.
If left for an extended period of time, usually within a few days, but depending on the fabric or floor type, it WILL change the dye structure, therefore causing permanent staining. Even if the soluble deposits are removed (aka the odor-causing urine salts) the damage to the dye structure(color change in carpet) may already be done, so act fast when dealing with urine in your carpet.
