Carpet Cleaning Myths
There has always been that family member that is older than us, with a crazy ideology about something they have no idea about. It was usually our wonderful mothers or grandmothers. After all, wasn’t all of our mothers the greatest carpet cleaners? Didn’t they always have an idea that at some point when we got older said to ourselves “I knew she was wrong about that” Unfortunately, some of those old tricks they thought where great ideas are just myths. You might have been misinformed and misguided about taking care of your carpet investment. It’s time to put those myths to rest and understand the facts about what actually happens when we get our carpet professionally cleaned.
Here are some false facts or myths about steam cleaning your carpet
Myth #1: “Professional Carpet Cleaning Will Shrink My Carpet.”
This is very very hard to do. You would need to over wet your carpet so badly, that not only would it shrink but the overwhelming mold/mildew smell would be the major concern. Our professional carpet cleaners will not allow this to happen because we use many tactics to help with speed drying. If your go-to carpet cleaner doesn’t use truck mounted units and air movers to speed up drying, then they should not be allowed in your home. This is a standard practice by professionals and should be taken seriously.
Myth #2: “It Should Be Years Before Having My New Carpet Cleaned.”
Quality made carpets these days will hide more dirt and stains than others. Though this doesn’t mean there aren’t soils or staining in your carpet. Also, soil is abrasive, this means your carpet may wear out early, lose fiber protection, and even lose some color. If you think waiting 2-3 years before having your carpets professionally cleaned is a good idea, you have been mislead. Waiting years will do nothing but create possible health hazards, such as respiratory issues, allergies, and skin irritation and infection.
Myth #3: “My Carpet Has No Stains, It Doesn’t Need To Be Cleaned”
As we have mentioned, soils are abrasive and residue that builds up in your carpet are not always noticeable. It’s smart to have your carpet cleaned at least once in a year by a professional—especially if you have small children and pets in the house. The IICRC, a renowned organization in the carpet cleaning industry, recommends cleaning carpet every 6-12 months and most manufactures will void warranties if they are not done in this time frame.
Myth #4: “I Have A Caret Cleaning Wet Vacuum.”
This is great for regular maintenance of your homes carpet in between professional carpet cleanings. If you want to remove small stains or maintain high traffic areas.Though many machines on the market don’t have the suction power like most machines professionals use. Home machines can then loosen the stains, but the residue will still be there. Leaving behind cleaning solution residue, will in turn get the carpet dirtier faster.
Myth #5: “Why would I Choose Your Company, When This Other Guy Is Only $6.95 A Room”
Do not hire a carpet cleaner simply because their services are the cheapest. If its to good to be true, it ALWAYS is. $6.95 a room is just another word for bait-n-switch. Which means they tell you a low price to get in your home and the jack up the bottom line on you. And 99% of the time they will be using portable/inferior equipment to a professional that charges a reasonable rate. These cleaners will only leave your carpet worse than they started, so don’t settle for anything just because their price is the lowest. Educate yourself on the company you are choosing. They should have a good online presence with a plethora of reviews on many platforms. Ask plenty of questions about the companies services and what kind of tools and employees they have.
