Well before European settlers arrived in 1536, Orlando was sparsely populated by the Creek and other Native American tribes. There are very few archaeological sites in the area today, except for the ruins of Fort Gatlin along the shores of modern-day Lake Gatlin just south of downtown Orlando. Orlando was originally known as Jernigan. Jernigan was a cattleman who had acquired land along Lake Holden and was the area’s first permanent settler in the area. Jernigan then became Orlando in 1857. There are a few conflicting stories as to how the city got its name. One of which (the most accepted) is that Orlando was named after a soldier named Orlando Reeves, who supposedly died during an attack by Native Americans in the area during the Second Seminole War. That story has been debated, but stands as the official city story. Orlando is an amazing place that goes by the name “The City Beautiful”. It is home to our historic downtown Church Street area, The Orlando Magic, Lake Eola, The Orlando City Lions and The Dr Phillips Performing Arts Center. Our Orlando carpet cleaning professionals take pride in keeping local Orlando carpets nice and clean and we would love to show you how well we perform.
